At Infotelecom, we continue to move forward with our commitment to the digital transformation of the Balearic Islands. The recent coverage by Cadena SER Menorca of our new data centre in Palma highlights a strategic project for the company and for the business community across the islands.

This new infrastructure, located in the Son Castelló industrial estate, represents an important step in our evolution as a local telecommunications operator and technology infrastructure provider in the Balearic Islands. It is a project that strengthens our presence in Mallorca and operates in sync with our centres in Ciutadella and Maó, consolidating our own network at the service of businesses, public administrations and critical services across the islands.

A new data centre in Palma to strengthen Infotelecom’s network

The launch of the new data centre in Palma is one of Infotelecom’s most important internal projects in recent years.

Its objective is clear: to offer businesses and institutions in the Balearic Islands a local, secure infrastructure prepared for increasingly essential services such as servers, cloud, backup, hosting, business connectivity, critical communications and business continuity.

In a context where many companies now depend directly on their digital systems, having a technology infrastructure close by and managed from the Balearic Islands provides a strategic advantage. It is not just about having access to the internet or cloud services, but about having a solid, nearby technological foundation with local response capacity.

Mallorca and Menorca connected through proprietary infrastructure

The new Palma data centre is not an isolated element. It is part of Infotelecom’s own network in the Balearic Islands, connected to our centres in Ciutadella and Maó.

This connection between Mallorca and Menorca allows us to reinforce the resilience of our services and offer more robust solutions to companies that require stability, security and continuity.

For Infotelecom, this territorial vision is essential. The Balearic Islands have specific technological needs, shaped by their island reality, business ecosystem, tourism activity, public administrations and the importance of maintaining reliable communications throughout the year.

That is why our model is based on our own infrastructure in the islands, capable of serving clients in Mallorca, Menorca and the Balearic Islands as a whole.

Digital sovereignty: nearby technology and local control

One of the key concepts behind this project is digital sovereignty.

At a time when many companies depend on large international platforms or infrastructures located outside their territory, having technology services hosted and managed from the Balearic Islands makes it possible to regain control, proximity and response capacity.

For Infotelecom, digital sovereignty in the Balearic Islands means that companies can rely on a local operator for critical services such as:

  • Servers and data hosting.
  • Cloud solutions.
  • Backup and data recovery.
  • Business connectivity.
  • IP telephony and PBX systems.
  • Hosting and professional services.
  • Critical communications.
  • Infrastructure for public administrations and companies.

This approach allows us to offer a local, professional alternative adapted to the real needs of organisations in the Balearic Islands.

Cloud services, servers and backup from the Balearic Islands

The new Palma data centre strengthens Infotelecom’s ability to provide advanced technology services through its own infrastructure.

Among the most relevant services are cloud solutions, servers, backup, hosting and business continuity. All of them are increasingly important for companies that need to protect their information, guarantee access to their systems and reduce the risk of interruptions.

Business backup has become a key element for any organisation. A technical failure, human error, cyberattack or data loss can compromise a company’s daily operations. Having backup and recovery solutions hosted on local infrastructure improves protection and response capacity.

Likewise, having servers and cloud services managed from the Balearic Islands allows many companies to work with greater proximity, nearby technical support and infrastructure adapted to their needs.

Infrastructure prepared for businesses, public administrations and critical services

Technology is now an essential part of the operation of any organisation. Hotels, professional firms, industries, shops, public administrations, emergency services and companies from all sectors need stable communications, secure systems and providers capable of responding quickly.

Infotelecom’s infrastructure is designed precisely to meet these needs.

Our network allows us to provide telecommunications, connectivity, cloud, servers, PBX systems, backup and critical communications services to organisations that require reliability, continuity and local support.

In the case of public administrations and essential services, this capacity is especially important. The availability of communications and the security of systems are not an add-on, but a fundamental part of their daily operations.

Energy efficiency and commitment to sustainability

In addition to strengthening our technological capacity, the new Palma data centre also includes a clear commitment to energy efficiency.

The project includes a photovoltaic plant installed on the roof of the building, capable of covering up to 80% of the data centre’s electricity consumption. In a sector where energy consumption is one of the major challenges, this decision reflects our commitment to moving towards more efficient and sustainable infrastructure.

For Infotelecom, technological growth must also be responsible. Sustainability is not separate from digital development, but an increasingly important part of any infrastructure project.

Another step forward in the evolution of Infotelecom

From our origins in Menorca to our consolidation in Mallorca, Infotelecom has maintained a clear vision: to offer telecommunications and technology infrastructure services based on proximity, knowledge of the territory and our own technical capacity.

The new data centre in Palma represents another step in that evolution. It strengthens our presence in Mallorca, consolidates our connection with Menorca and expands our capacity to support companies and institutions in their digitalisation processes.

This is not only about growing as a company, but also about helping the Balearic Islands build a stronger, closer and future-ready digital infrastructure.

Thank you to Cadena SER Menorca

At Infotelecom, we would like to thank Cadena SER Menorca for covering this project and for helping explain the importance of having our own technology infrastructure in the Balearic Islands.

We would also like to thank Josep Fortuny, manager of Infotelecom, for his vision and work in continuing to drive a local company capable of offering advanced telecommunications, cloud, server, backup and connectivity solutions to businesses, public administrations and critical services across the islands.

At Infotelecom, we will continue working to build a solid, sustainable and local digital infrastructure for Mallorca, Menorca and the Balearic Islands as a whole.
